Introduction

In this video, Kassandra goes over some more intermediate-level yoga poses. If you’re comfortable with the poses from the beginner video, or if you’ve been practicing yoga for a while now, give these a try!

Stretch 1

A hand holding an object in his hand

Lay flat on your back with your arms outstretched to the side. Pull one leg in so that it’s bent at a 90-degree angle, and pull the other leg up so that the bottom of your foot is touching your opposite thigh. Keep both shoulders pressed down firmly into the floor as you push away from them to lengthen your spine. Hold for 5 breaths, then repeat on the other side.

Stretch 2

Lay down with your knees bent and the bottoms of your feet against each other, hip-width apart. Keeping your shoulders firmly pressed into the floor, lift to sit on your heels. Take five deep breaths here. Shake out both legs to release the stretch, and switch sides.

Stretch 3

This one’s a little more advanced: Lay down with your knees bent and the bottoms of your feet touching. Press your shins into the floor and lift your hips; hold for 5 deep breaths. To deepen the stretch, you can try lifting each leg, holding for five breaths, then switching legs. Repeat this three times.

Stretch 4

Kassandra calls this “the cobra pose.” Laying on your stomach, press the tops of your feet into the floor and curl your toes under; keep your thighs and hips tucked in toward each other as you lift through your chest and belly. Don’t let your hips sag down, and keep your arms long. Reach back with your hands to lengthen through the spine as you lift higher if you can. Hold for 5 breaths, then slowly release.
